Hey Orlando Rugby,
Glad to see the club doing so well.
Men, Congrats on a good season. Women Great job at Ruggerfest and Good Luck in the up coming competitive season. Also to both teams, glad to see your numbers are still doing well and have a great 7s season.
As for Tate and I, we are doing very well here in Italy, as are Max and Bogan (the dogs). We both are staying busy with work and the occasional travel to great European cities with good wine and beer. Recently I joined the Hash House Harriers for a 5.3 mile hash run through the woods and a park, all 42 of us wearing red dresses, the trail was rough, but the beer was good. This past Friday, Tate played with the NATO Lions Rugby Club, from the NATO Base here in Naples. Since we left, he has lost 30 lb. and is in great shape, to which I tell you that he scored in the game. We all know it’s great to see a PROP score. Now, I know you all think I would be standing on the side lines, drinking good beer, and cheering, but NO…not me. Before the game started, the team asked me if I wanted to play and after checking with the greasy Italian team, the ref, and ever reluctant Tate, I agreed to come in at the end and play where ever. The Southern Italians are not fond of women doing anything but cooking and cleaning, but I think they just couldn’t wait to lay a hit on a girl, but I don’t easily fall. So, yes in the last 10 minutes of the game, I went in and played scrum half. It was great, aside from the cheap shots and the groping, I had fun and got some great passing experience…LOL! After that I was asked if I would like to play with an Italian team just south of Rome, so, I am waiting to hear from the team and hopefully I will get to play some rugby with women while I’m here. We have some more games coming up, although I don’t look forward to the gravel pit of a pitch we played on, but the socials after are great, with lots of Italian beer and AMAZING FOOD, we also found some great “Irish italian” pubs. I will be posting more pictures on my myspace and google pics. I will let you all know when. Miss you all and I look forward to seeing you in November when I visit for another wedding. If anyone wants to make a visit you are more than welcome and have a free bed to lay your head and some good food and beer. Also, check out when Six Nations starts again, apparently there will be 3 games played at the stadium in Rome and you can bet I’ll be there.
Miss you lots and GOOD LUCK.
Becky Rodrigues-Metlen and Tate Metlen
