The Orlando women fought hard but fell to NOVA 26-3. Having just won the Seven’s National Championship, NOVA’s back line was a formidable opponent. Orlando fought hard but spent much of the day in its own half as NOVA applied consistent pressure.
Orlando travels to Miami next week to take on Miami in a friendly.
Orlando men defeated UCF in some brutal heat 27-3. Play was broken up into four 20 minute quarters with liberal substitutions allowed. The first two quarters saw both sides feel each other out and make plenty of unforced errors ending scoreless. The third quarter finally got some continuity and UCF went on the board first with a short penalty. Orlando came right back and scored an unconverted try to end the quarter up 5-3. In the final period Orlando really came together with the forwards working in unison marching the ball up the filed and the backs finishing from all angles.
Orlando travels to Naples next week for a friendly.
The Orlando Women will host NOVA (NOrthern VirginiA) this years National Women’s Sevens Champions. This is the women’s only home match of the fall so come out and support them on the newly resurfaced Lorna Doone field as they get ready for the playoffs.
