A Note From Coach Alan
April 17th, 2012
Boys,
I want to thank all of you for your efforts this past season. Although we fell a bit short this past Saturday, I am still convinced that you are one of the best teams and collection of Rugby players I have ever seen! I know you will all work extremely hard this offseason to improve and get ORFC to the next level. My only regret is that I will not be here with you when you do it.
I am extremely humbled by the amount of respect you all gave to me this season as I took on the role of coach from player. It is a testament to the character of each of you that we were able to make this transition so smoothly and perform as well as we did on and off the pitch. Thank you all for every drop of sweat, every ache you pushed through and ounce of blood you spilled for this club this season!! You will go down as one of the best teams in this clubs long and tenured history. Hold your heads high and be proud of this seasons accomplishments.
I hope all of you embrace the moments you will have with your teamates as they go by more quickly than you think. They will become some of your most trusted friends and people you will learn to rely on and lean on in good times and bad. I would be remiss if I didnt say that leaving this club and all of you will be the hardest part of this move.
Thursday night will be one of my last nights in town, so I would love for all of you to make it out to training for one last run and head to Dive Bar after so we can share one last beer together. It has been an honor and a privilege to play for and coach with ORFC and a time I will never forget.
Sincerely,
Alan
