Orlando Hosts Miami and Boca Feb 4th

This weekend is huge for ORFC with the DIIIs taking on Boca B and the undefeated DIIs hosting a strong Miami side. If you act now, we’ll also throw in a UCF women’s match against FSU (just pay the extra shipping). Hall of Famer Ed Pierzynski will be on hand to hand out the jerseys to the boys and we need all the support we can get to get the DIIIs back on a winning track and keep the DIIs on the road to the playoffs. The fun starts at noon Saturday with the DIIIs playing first follwoed by UCF, and the DIIs finishing off the day. Our U19 team will have cold drinks & burgers/hotdogs for sale if anybody feels the urge.

The DII side has a week off, but Orlando is still in action with the DIII side travelling to Sarasota. The U19 match has been postponed. Their next match is in two weeks against Daytona. DIIIs will head out to Sarasota Saturday morning.

1/21 Wrapup

The DII side beat the Pelicans 55-5 in St. Pete. The DIII side didn’t fare as well suffering it’s first loss of the season at Brevard 50-3.

Our U19s won 34-19 against Lincoln Park Academy. Slow start, with LPA putting up 12 unanswered points in first 20 minutes. Orlando then wakes up and starts to play rugby after a rumbling, driving run through the middle of the LPA defense culminating in a diving try by Jacob Ponder (Flanker). Jacob was named Man of the Match.

Other tries were by: TJ Ramos (Prop), Conner Hoff (scrum half) and Casey Gerlach (#8). Clearly, the forwards were getting it done.

Conner went 6/7 kicking, including a beautiful 20 yarder from the side-line (4/4 conversions, 2/3 penalties).

Next week the DII side is off and the DIIIs head off to Sarasota. The U19s play Brevard at home.

Great day of Rugby! Orlando D3 wins 22-3 over Pasco & D2 wins 63-15 over Ft Lauderdale!! Our U19 boys came up a little short against Deltona, but showed some.heart by playing hard to the end.

Three Matches at Home This Week

Orlando kicks off the new year with three matrix matches at home this Saturday, January 14th. The fun starts at 12:00pm with the U19s followed by the DIIIs and ending with DIIs before heading over to Dive Bar for the social. Pack your cooler and and a chair as we’ll be returning to Lorna Doone for a full day of rugby.

Orlando Youth at Brevard Jamboree Jan 7th

This Saturday, the Orlando Youth side will play in the Brevard U19 Jamboree. Several teams from across the state will be attending to make sure everyone gets plenty of game time. This is the final build up to the youth matrix season which starts next week against Deltona. If you’re loking for something to do this Saturday, head over to the coast and watch our boys play. Provost Park is at 400 S. Varr Ave. in Cocoa. It’s the southwest corner of S.R. 520 and Fiske Blvd.
From I-95 – Take exit 201, S.R. 520, east about three miles. Turn right on Varr St, which is just before Fiske Blvd. The pitch is 1 block down on your right.

Christmas Party this Weekend

This Saturday, December 17th, the Orlando Rugby hosts its annual Christmas Party at 6:30 pm at Dive Bar. Grab your spouse, girlfriend, boyfriend, friend with benefits or a complete stranger and join us for free beer, caroling and hors d’oeuvres (food) plus discounts on liquor and sarcasm all night. A $5 donation is requested but not required at the door to help offset the cost. It is sure to be the highlight of the holiday season so don’t miss it!

Orlando Wins Two this Weekend

Orlando posts a 27-25 win over Tridents and a 34-15 win over St. Augustine this weekend.

The DII match saw OFC pull out an ugly, yet important victory over a good Miami Tridents side.

In the DIII match, Orlando applied good pressure the whole game with a man of the match performance coming from Henry Vilagra off the bench. St. Augustine played strong through the finish, but ORFC pulled together to run in two tries in the last ten minutes to put the game away.

We have two Games this weekend as we re-launch our D3 side into competition!

D2 @ Miami Tridents KO 2pm
All players need to be at the Kmart on Turkey Lake Rd at 8:30am

The Bus will be departing at 9am, so DO NOT BE LATE!!
Everyone is riding the bus and everyone must bring the $38 fee unless more people are added.

All players need to be at the Home Depot off of Lake Mary Blvd (exit 98 on I-4) at 11am

You will carpool and leave by 11:30am.

The game will be held at – Mill Creek Elementary – 3750 International Golf Parkway, Saint Augustine, FL 32092. It is right off 95.

The Social is going to be held at – Meehans Irish Pub – 20 Avenida Menendez St. Augustine, FL 32084.
The social is a nice distance from the field. It is located right in downtown St. Augustine.

Santa Clause is coming to Dive Bar! The Orlando Rugby Club will host it’s annual Christmas Party at Dive Bar on December 17th. The club will furnish a keg and buffet and liquor will be discounted all night. The fun starts at 6:30pm so make plans to attend.
